![]() ![]() If you struggle with patience, the game will be hard to enjoy - it's a lot slower paced that COTW This can mostly be resolved with a few engine.ini tweaks - there are loads on this subreddit. ![]() Running the game at 1080p can have a graining effect and distant objects can feel like they're oil-painted. The task challenges are fun too - really makes you think about the hunt and how to achieve the the goal. There's a storyline too, which is excellently voice-acted, some stories featuring comics and music. The missions are really challenging and fun. The guns and equipment is all licenced and true to life. Some parts of the game look photorealistic. The ambience is brilliant - the LOD is incredible and the sense of scale is huge. Instead, you have to nurture the herds that have high fitness, and patiently wait for animals to grow up and get bigger and become 5 stars - the map is constantly evolving and changing. This system stops things like killing everything on the map to spawn new animals that have a higher score. The animal scores are based on 1 star to 5 star, where 1 star mature animals correlate to low fitness (no chance to get older and become bigger trophy) where the 5 stars have high fightness scores (85% -100% based on species). The animals spawn randomly the first time you load in the game, susequent spawns will yield low age animals. Even Alaska map is bigger than COTW's maps (if you have played that game). Alaska is around 64km squared and Africa is slightly bigger around 75km squared. You could easily spent 100 hours on both those maps. All three are massive in size with Nez Perce Valley (USA) and Transilvania (Romania) being 100km squared in size. 4 maps - US, US Alaska, South Africa and Romania (Europe). As a casual, playing on Hiker will not give you a challenge, but a fun casual experience that everyone can enjoy. BUT, there are difficulty options, Hiker mode makes the game more casual and something that all people can enjoy - animals spook and run away at more like 100 to 150 metres - well within shooting range for your rifle. The animals have incredible hearing and sight, and they can spook and run away from you at 250-300 metres if you're not crouching. There are a few cons that can turn cotw players away, or people new to hunting will not like so I'll list them all for you.Įssentially the game is a hunting 'simulator'. Imho - bottom line: Yes, I recommend this game. ![]()
